  1. Please select TWO of the assigned thirty-three sections of Whitman's "Song of Myself" and analyze them comparatively.-Why you chose them? What do they mean to you?-Which are the overarching themes of the sections and the main concerns or ideas of the poet expressed in the particular sections of your choice?-How do some of these ideas relate to the largest scope of Whitman's thinking as discussed in-class notes and demonstrated in my PowerPoint posted here on BB?-Moreover, how does it connect with some of the broader themes of the Enlightenment and the Romantic Period we have been discussing? How different do you find the scope and tone of an American poet compared to the Europeans we discussed so far? Write about 700 words (no less), in at least four double-spaced paragraphs. Consider ALL rules and characteristics of writing we have discussed repeatedly, from grammar, syntax, and structure, to having a title, and italics and avoiding run on sentences. Have a clear thesis and fortify your analysis with concrete evidence from the assigned texts. Submit as a regular assignment here. Please submit as a document, make sure you do not write in the Comment Column. To report best on your chosen sections you must cite in your report specific examples/quotes from the poem, as well as from the assigned essays/notes related to Whitman to back up you viewpoint and demonstrate knowledge of your topic and the ASSIGNED reading material. Please do not refer to random online sources. Please do not generalize. References must be drawn strictly from class material. (Frankenstein and The Enlightenment by Kant)
