Directions

A claim of policy argues for an action or a change in thinking.  It expresses what should be done about a specific issue.  This involves first proving the need for a change and then why a specificpolicy should be used to address the issue.  For Essay 3, make and support a claim of policy in response to the following question: what should be done to alleviate homelessness in the United States?

It is not expected for anyone to be able to completely “solve” such a complex issue in a
relatively short essay.  Instead of writing about multiple seemingly unrelated solutions, your
claim should focus on one specific policy in response to the issue and why you think this would
be an effective policy to significantly reduce or lessen homelessness and its associated issues.
