PowerPoint Presentation HR Analytics Assignment
Throughout the previous weeks, we identified a number of uses for a human resource information system (HRIS). For each of these purposes, we discussed the information that can be retrieved to improve the operations and services provided to employees as well as manage the information. This is referred to as HR analytics.
For this assignment, you will be preparing a presentation using proper APA format for the Title and Reference Page (no less than 8 slides, excluding title page and references) on the following:
Define, discuss, and provide a practical example of each of the four levels of HR analytics: operational reporting, advanced reporting, strategic analytics, and predictive analytics.
Provide an example of data (i.e. analytics) that can be retrieved from each of these levels. For example, using e-Recruitment and e-Selection software, you can identify the demographics and number of applicants for each position. You would also explain how this information would be useful to the organization.
Include appropriate graphics: clip art, charts, tables.
Graphics should be complementary to the narrative and not overwhelming or distracting from the content.
Presentation must include creative elements to include but not be limited to appropriate clip art, photos, charts, graphs, font color, and background themes (ensure the text/font can be easily seen and is visible). Points will be deducted if the presentation is not creative!
Do not forget to use bullet points or short sentences on your slides and expand on your note pages, or you can add audio. Often, when individuals are unable to attend a presentation, the presentation is forwarded to the absent individuals, and the note pages (i.e. speaker notes) provide the information they missed which they missed from the actual verbal discussion. The other way to look at the note pages is that this is where the narrative from an essay would go.
You may use the "Notes Section" of the slides for further clarification or information if needed. If you use the notes section please indicate that on your slide for me to refer to the "Notes" for additional information or "See Notes."
oStudents are encouraged to use the Notes section of the slides in formulating the presentation as a way to minimize lengthy narratives on the slides. This approach will allow the use of bullet points on the slides but demonstrate the depth and scope of the research conducted in the Notes section.
Remember – keep the presentation visually friendly, creative, and professional!
Creating a Visually-Friendly Presentation
When you hear the number 285 million people – that is no small number. What this number represents is the number of people who are visually impaired in this world, some are corrected but others have left their vision uncorrected. If someone is not wearing corrective lenses does not mean they are not experiencing challenges with their eyesight. All of us can name at least one person who does not want to wear corrective lenses or needs to.
Some of the common visual impairments include low vision, color blindness, and dyslexia. Objects may be out of focus. For others, colors may skew what they viewing, and inhibit them from distinguishing letters, colors, and objectives. Some of the colors that are difficult for some individuals to distinguish are red, green, yellow, and blue.
There are a few things you can do to make your design visually friendly:
1. Choose a legible font. This includes Sans Serif, Helvetica, Arial, and Verdana
2. Control brightness and contrast. As many of you have already heard me say – light background and use a dark text.
3. Limit animations and effects. Do not use spinning or wavy slide transitions.
4. Stay away from dark backgrounds and slide designs.
