Online – Reflection Logs – 1 per week (Canvas): You will be placed in a random

discussion group. You will be responsible for completing a reflection on the assigned
reading(s). A reflection log is like a personal journal except that: it has a specific academic purpose and focus and it is semi-public (I will read and respond to your log, as will your

peers). It is a space for reflecting on your reading and your experiences in the field. What
strikes you in the text or the classroom? What puzzles you? What does it remind you of?
What criticisms do you have of it? What do you want to know more about? These are a
few of the questions you might reflect on as you write. They will always be shared with
your discussion group members. I will read and respond to each of your logs. Each entry
should be about 750 – 1000 words in length (around 2 pages double spaced). The weekly
reflection log entry should be completed according to the schedule of reading delineated
on the syllabus bellow. Reflections will be due every Thursday @ 11:59 PM each week.
Late reading reflections should be posted as soon as possible for partial credit.
The reflection logs will be divided into five units: Unit 1 – Literature review and
posing a research question; unit 2: Initial data gathering; unit 3: Initial data analysis; unit
4: Findings and recommendations; and unit 5: Pulling it all together.
NOTE: Reading reflections are first drafts of personal (and often emotional) responses.
They are not expected to be polished prose. Points will not be deducted for spelling and
grammar mistakes.
