Each student will contribute to a class discussion regarding each topic in the course. Each discussion board entry is worth 50 points for a semester total of 400 points (50 points per entry times 8 times), and you should aim for at least 4 long paragraphs (detail is important!)—think of this as a short reaction paper. You must do the following in each of your entries:

1. Explain what stood out to you from the listed lectures for the discussion board; relate this to something you’ve experienced in your life.
2. Pick two of the readings assigned from the Newman book for the listed lectures (not a video) and explain to me how each reading fits in with something you’ve seen (in person or through media) or experienced in your life.
3. Pick 2 concepts (total) from the listed lectures and tell me how they fit with the readings you picked for this assignment.
4. Describe which 2 big theories (from the Sociology Primer) best fits the readings/videos for the listed lectures and explain in-depth why you chose these big theories.
5. You need to respond to another student’s post with feedback concerning how their post relates to your own ideas or views about the topic (at least 2 full paragraphs required). Use this response to your classmate as a way to have meaningful dialogue with other students regarding your sociological analysis of everyday life.
