You will research and present on a current compensation issue of your choice. Assume the role

of an HR professional who is briefing their HR colleagues on a timely compensation-related

topic. The presentation should be approximately 10–15 minutes long. You may or may not use

PowerPoint. If you do use PowerPoint, you may use no less than 2 and no more than 6 slides.

Following the presentation, you will lead a short class discussion (approximately 5–10 minutes).

To lead the discussion, prepare a minimum of 3 questions about the topic you presented.

Your research and presentation should be based on 2 or 3 articles from an HR practitioner

publication (e.g., WorkSpan, published by WorldatWork, or HRMagazine, published by the

Society for Human Resource Management), business periodicals (e.g., BusinessWeek, Business

Horizons), or major newspapers (e.g., New York Times, The Wall Street Journal). If you are not

sure if the sources you are using are relevant, please ask!

Topics and presentation slots are assigned on a first-come first-served basis. You are responsible

for signing up for the week and topic of your choice by emailing me. You may present on the

same broad topic (e.g., health benefits, wage and hour laws) as a previous student, but the

content and viewpoint must be unique.
