After Janet Smith, the office manager, read the report with your vision for the monitoring system to improve the processes in the small medical office, she met with you to decide what process variables could be used to start monitoring the process performance. The two of you decided to monitor two variables:

• Total time it takes since each patient checks-in until the patient checks-out
• Number of patients in the waiting room

The manager provides you data that the office has collected on these two variables during the past week.

Your second assignment is to do a detailed statistical analysis of the data to be able to decide later what would be appropriate control charts to monitor these variables.

Present a report to the office manager with the results of the statistical analysis of the data and your conclusions on the variables that will be used to monitor the process performance.

Submit the report as a memo that you are sending to the office manager as the consultant for the small medical office.
