Directions for Quality Improvement Project

The intent of this assignment is to have the student become familiar with the Quality Improvement (QI) process and be exposed to some useful tools that will help with QI projects. Some examples are provided to assist students in parts of this assignment. First, the student should visit the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) website (http://www.ihi.org/topics/Pages/default.aspx) and select a topic for their QI project.

The paper should be in the American Psychological Associate (APA) template. The expectation is the APA formatting, references in text and in the reference page should be in proper format. To begin, the introduction of the paper should state some brief information about the project, along with a purpose. The paper should begin with an introduction.

This is a very important part of the project because if you are not aware of how to make change happen or the stages of change theory, the project may not be successful. In this section:

Leadership Style & Potential Cultural Legal Issues

This section should tell the reader what leadership style would be used to implement the project. In addition, the student will describe a potential legal problem if a manager were not culturally sensitive.

  • Define the leadership style with a reference and tell the reader why it would work.
  • Given that we all work in diverse organizations, it is important for us to be culturally sensitive when managing a diverse workforce. According to the readings, if a manager is not culturally sensitive with their communication what specifically could be a potential legal problem? Ensure you provide a reference

Conclusion

The summary or conclusion should be comprehensive and should give a brief overview of the project. Each section included in the directions should be briefly addressed. This section should be a minimum of three to six paragraphs. The reader should be able to read the summary only and gather enough information to understand the intent of the project.
