Abstract

Develop an abstract by providing the purpose of the study first. Then, provide one sentence that indicates the number of participants, the variables involved, and the analysis undertaken. Then, provide two sentences that indicate the results. Provide a final sentence that interprets the results.

Empirical Report: Multinomial Logistic Regression

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of personality characteristics and other psychological factors of employees on the business status of companies.

Methods

Participants

There were 640 participants involved from various companies in the US. Of these 640 participants, there were 12 participants (1.9%) with missing data making the number of participants involved in the analyses as 628.

Instruments

Indicate the variables and instruments used. Provide a description with whatever is provided in the presentation document from slide 4.

Procedure

Indicate that the data were provided by Meyers, Gamst, & Guarino (2016). Indicate that a multinomial logistic analysis was calculated using IBM SPSS v.27. Indicate that the companies with the business status of bankruptcy represented the reference group in the analysis.

Results

Start with the descriptive statistics in the first paragraph. Refer to Table 1 (which come from slide 9) and offer comments in the narrative about what the reader should notice about the sample sizes, means, and standard deviations. Indicate whether the sample size using the recommendation of 50 participants per predictor was found (Aldrich & Nelson, 1984).

The next paragraph presents the correlation coefficients of each predictor to each other in Table 2. Refer to Table 2 and interpret the statistical significance, direction, and magnitude of the correlation coefficients. Do not list all the correlation coefficients in the narrative but highlight for the reader what they should notice in Table 2 regarding the statistical significance, direction, and magnitude of the correlation coefficients.

The next paragraph presents the overall findings of the logistic regression. This includes the information from slides 14 and 15 representing the chi-square, Nagelkerke R2, and the results of the classification table. Make sure you interpret and comment on the statistical information presented. Do not cut-and-paste the tables into the document but include the statistical results in the narrative as follows: c2 (df = 16) = 837.263, p < .001; the Nagelkerke R2 = 0.834 and percent correctly classified was 82.8%.

The final paragraph presents the details of the logistic regression in terms of the statistical information for each variable. Make sure that you interpret and comment on the statistical information presented. Extract the information on slide 16 or your IBM SPSS output into Table 3. Refer to Table 3 and comment on which predictors were statistically significant and interpret the odds ratio for each statistically significant variable commenting on the magnitude of the effect. Please note that the odds ration represents the increase or decrease in odds of being in the reference group (in this case bankruptcy business) than the group where the odds ratio is found with one unit increase in the predictor.

Discussion

Provide a recap of the results in a couple of sentences using a narrative.

Reflect on what you have learned from this assignment.
