In the upcoming mid election season – debates and policy platforms often include large budgetary items like Medicare for All, work requirements for Medicaid and how best to control high costs within the Medicare program as it stands today. Controversial proposals exist on both the republican and democratic sides of the aisle. Using statistics from KFF, your readings, videos and any outside sources you like – please make an argument about whether or not Congress should take up legislation to change, expand, reduce, or eliminate coverage under the federal Medicare program in 2022.
In "Pandemics at Work," we argue that the the events of COVID-19 have presented employers with significant, complex and often conflicting decisions to make. Understanding the required legal expectations, health and safety needs and desires of key stakeholders has left many employers realizing just how prominent their role has become in the health of their employee population. Choose one of the key scenarios in Table 2 of this article and discuss what you see as the most notable ethical consideration. Please ground your answer in the key ethical principles identified and feel free to bring in other relevant outside sources.
