A needs analysis of your learner (1page max)

  • A speaking and/or writing activity for your learner (3 pages max)

Be sure that your needs analysis and your activity are clearly connected. I want to understand why you created this activity, what learning needs it responds to, and why you think this activity is the most appropriate for your learner in this situation.

Remember:

  • Make links between your needs analysis and your activity explicit. Use the concepts we learned about over the course to strengthen your pedagogical rationale.
  • Although you are identifying needs, work from an asset-based perspective. Consider what your learner CAN do and how you can build on that.

PROCEDURE:

Needs analysis:

  1. Select one (or more) of the features you identified to assess your learner in the Profile assignment
  2. Research and develop your learner’s specific language need (i.e., pronunciation, prosody, grammar, vocabulary, sociopragmatics, coherence and cohesion, fluency, structure, etc.)
  3. Explain how and why you believe addressing this feature is important for your learner
