The topic of the paper will be an aviation accident that has a causal connection with a human performance issue or a human limitation. If a topic can be found in the class textbook it can be considered for the research paper. (Example; fatigue, hypoxia, ergonomics, the SHEL model etc.).  I expect you to explain why the specific human factor contributed to the accident. Remember 70% to 80% of all aviation accidents are caused by human factors.  Simply identifying your accident as pilot error is not enough to satisfy this assignment.  Ask the question, what caused the pilot error? A thorough description of the human factor (lack of human performance or a human limitation) and how it can be related to the accident should be the primary focus of the paper.  Additional emphasis should be on the specific hazards presented by the human factor in and around the event and the proper actions an aviator, controller, or mechanic should take to deal with those specific hazards.  This paper is not a summary of the accident, but a comprehensive look at the human factors.
