We have seen that the U.S. has some of the highest disease rates amongst developed nations, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity. The latter was classified by the AMA as a disease in 2013. In 2018, NHANES (National Health & Nutrition Examination Survey) reported that 42% of adults and 19.3% of children (2-19 years) are obese, resulting in 100+ million American adults, and 13+ million children, being deemed as having a medical condition that needs treatment.
- As a result of this knowledge, along with nutritional information gained (hopefully) during this course, what are the changes (if any) you have made to your nutritional intake over the last 3 months?
- As the motivation to make nutritional changes is the key to improving the health of our Nation, why did your changes occur?
- What are the consequences (benefits), and what are some nutritional changes you would still like to make (and why)?
